AND COUNTING DOWN

As you will see, we have begun our countdown to the National Games. We are hoping you will all get behind the team and encourage and support them all during the exciting build up to the Games.

For those of you who are new to the club and/or Special Olympics, the National Games are held every 4 years and members are selected from across the region to compete as part of the North West Team.

The event is the largest sporting event being held in Britain during 2005 with 2,500 athletes competing in 23 different sports (gymnastics having the 2^nd highest number of participants) over 9 days. There are teams from 19 regions of Britain plus teams from Austria, Germany, Spain and Netherlands – indeed the German team will be staying at the same camp as us!

This is a fantastic event, not only for the gymnasts going to Glasgow but for the club to be part of, that is why we ask your help in promoting this event and the achievements of ALL our gymnasts.   

Having attended the Games conference in Glasgow last week, we are really impressed with the commitment of Glasgow Council and the Games committee and are confident that our gymnasts will thoroughly enjoy the whole experience – as will our coaches and those parents who are coming along to support us!
