HEAD COACH - RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS

MRS RUTH HOLLERAN

Ruth really needs no introduction! She is our longest serving coach having been with us when the club was still based at Brookfields school. Ruth firstly qualified as an assistant coach in General Gymnastics during 1991 and then soon after completed her Special Needs module. During 1999 rhythmic gymnastics started implementing a disabilities section, so, to aid our gymnasts development in March 2001 Ruth took and passed her Rhythmic Assistant Club Coach qualification and then her Club Coach qualification in September 2002. Ruth has been head of the Rhythmic Section since its foundation and we are grateful to her for all the hard work she has put in, least of all when taking Philippa Sloane to the World Games!

Ruth has little time for hobbies as she spends her time, when not at gym or caring for Stella, at St Marys Boys Brigade where she runs the Anchor Boys Section.

HEAD COACH- ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS

MR ANDY SHARD

Andy started his coaching career at The City of Liverpool Gym Club where he was a Boys coach, before joining us in September 2000 . He passed his Mens Assistant Club Coach exam in April 01, then his General Gymnastics Club Coach in March 02, closely followed by the new Disabilities Club Coach exam in May 02. Next came his Mens Club Coach exam – passed in May 03. Andy also attended the Senior Club Coach course in August this year, and is anticipating his exam taking place early next year (coaches at this level need to complete a minimum 50 hours coaching at the level being tested, prior to exam so the time from course to exam is usually about 6 months!). During 2002, as well as taking over from Margaret in the artistic section, Andy moved to Central Manchester Institute of Gymnastics, where he now coaches boys from the north west and national squads, 6 days/20 hours a week, so it will be no surprise that Andys hobby is listed as GYM.
